Muckle Sing, Saturday 20 February and now Sunday 21st February 2010!
Due to popular demand we have added a repeat of the Muckle Sing workshop with Ali Burns on Sunday 21st starting at 10am. Still in conjunction with West Lothian Arts Services, the extra day will be held at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston as well. Tickets are on sale from the Box Office on 01506 777666. Northern Streams 2010 / Hoots Man Alive! Traditional Male Dance Festival 16-18 April
Northern Streams is a festival of concerts, workshops and sessions celebrating the cultures of Scandinavia and Scotland. This year we have the first ‘Hoots Man Alive!’ Traditional Male Dance Festival - thanks to support from the Scottish Arts Council. You will have the chance to experience raw energy, sweat and strength and learn from some of the top male dancers such as:
• Anders Aasberg - from the group Frikar who won the Eurovision 2009 choreography competition as part of the winning Norwegian entry with Norwegian Halling dance
• Jamie Macdonald Reid and the older male form of Scottish Highland dancing with
• Plus men from the Dancing Danes!
We also have invited:
• Swedish folk group Svanevit with their unique combinations of harp, percussion, Swedish bagpipes, nyckelharpa, mandola, fiddle and voice
• Boreas - Lori Watson – Fiddle/Vocals; Britt Pernille Frøholm - Hardangerfiddle; Innes Watson - Guitars / Vocals and Irene Tillung - Button Accordion Box
• Winners of two Danish Folk Music Awards 2009 – fiddler/singer, Hal Parfitt Murray and keyboard/accordionist, Nikolaj Busk.
