We will be sharing a session with our good friends of the Edinburgh Song Session this coming Sunday (9 November). This is from 3.00 till 6.00pm to celebrate Hamish Henderson's birthday and Remembrance Sunday. You are very welcome to join us, whether as someone with a song, a tune, a poem or a wee story to share, or as someone who simply enjoys listening.
The session takes place in the mezzanine floor of the Canon's Gait, 232 Canongate, Edinburgh EH8 8DQ. To find us, head down a few stairs directly to your right as you enter the bar.
Sharing this information from the ESS FB Group Post: "This date in our calendar has for some years been part of the Carrying Stream Festival, which celebrates the work and contributions of Hamish Henderson. As always, the Edinburgh Song session is open to everybody, and folk can sing what they like - there's no rules. (We also welcome instrumental tunes, poems, and short tales.) But I can be quite confident in predicting two themes turning up; {a} The Hamish Henderson theme. He was born on 11 November 1919. I'm sure we'll hear a few of his songs ! {b} As it will be Remembrance Sunday, don't be surprised if there's a few appropriate to that. “Maker, ye maun sing them... Tomorrow, songs Will flow free again, and new voices Be borne on the carrying stream.” (Hamish Henderson)"Look forward to seeing you there!
NB: we are expecting to be holding our Edinburgh and Lothians Branch AGM in early December by Zoom - details will be out very soon. Please email eltmsa@yahoo.co.uk to let us know if you will have issues accessing Zoom as there is the possibility some of us can gather to access the meeting together!
